Temperate Asia- China (Anhui, - Henan, - Hebei, - Jiangsu, - Liaoning, - Shandong), Korea

Perennial large shrub or small tree, many-branched, deciduous. Occuring in canyons, riverbanks, roadsides. Thin microphyllous leaves branched leaves, pink flowers with five stamens. Jepson note: "Similar in morphology to Tamarix ramosissima; hybridizes with Tamarix aphylla (rarely), Tamarix ramosissima (commonly)." In DiTomaso and Healy, they note that this species hybridizes with T. ramosissima, and in fact, the hybrid is the most widespread invasive tamarisk species from OK to WA to CA.
