This plant is originally native to Europe (Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Spain and France) and Africa. 

Saponaria ocymoides, rock soapwort, is a herbaceous perennial forb. It has evergreen foliage with pink flowers that bloom repeatedly between late spring and early summer. This species grows to a height of 4-6 inches and a spread of 1-1.5 feet. Seeds of the plant are poisonous. Propagation occurs through root division, softwood cuttings, and seeding. This plant grows best in full to part-sun.
