Life History:  Perennial

Growth Form:  shrub

Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua

Shrubby perennial in the Asteraceae family which grows up to 8 feet tall. Velvety, evergreen leaves up to 8 inches across are lobed and fan-like. Blooms in midwinter bearing large clusters of small bright yellow daisies that stand well above the foliage mass (Sunset Western Garden Book).

Sold as ornamental. Listed in Sunset Western Garden Book as Senecio petasitis.
