Osteospermum has substantial foliage and daisy-like flowers in shades of pink, purple, blue, or white. The flowers are prominent, 2 to 3 inches in diameter with dark-blue centers and an almost waxy appearance.
An ornamental species listed in the Sunset Western Garden Book. The species is named after C.F. Ecklon, one of the early botanical explorers of the Cape. It was introduced into cultivation in Europe in the late 1800s (Plantz Africa).
