Oenothera berlandieri

Common Name(s)
Mexican evening primrose, pinkladies, white evening-primrose
Synonym(s)
Oenothera speciosa

Is this plant a cultivar?  No

Life History:  Perennial

Growth Form:  forb

This species is native to North America, ranging from South-Central to Southeastern States, north to North Central states and into Indiana. It is also native to Northern Mexico (Chihuaua- Coahuila). (GRIN)

Herbaceous perennial with dark green, narrow elliptical leaves, and large white to pink flowers that bloom in the spring into summer. The growth form is mounding and rhizomatous.

San Marcos growers notes this species has been long grown in the nursery industry in California. Important to note that the species being sold at many nurseries in California has pink flowers matching O. speciosa, (O. berlandieri proper has a small range, and yellow flowers) thus the plant in the nursery trade is treated as O. speciosa here.
