K. uvaria is a perennial herb in the Liliaceae Family. It has leaves 1 inch wide and up to 2 feet long with flower heads on stems 3 to 3.5 feet tall.  Its coral red buds open to orange or deep yellow blossoms in summer (Sunset Western Garden Book).

Sold as an ornamental. Listed in Sunset Western Garden Book.
