Geranium sanguineum is a perennial plant with stout, horizontal rhizomes. Stems are diffused, branched, erect to decumbent, with long white patent hairs and sessile glands. Leaves are mostly cauline, 3-5 cm wide, divided into 5-7 lobes, each with 1-3 linear, oblong, acute segments on each side. Flowers are single on a 7-15 cm penduncle and stick out from nodes.
