Growth Form:  forb

Adonis aestivalis is mostly clearly native to the Mediterranean and western Asia. It is questionably native across much of Europe but also listed as invasive in some parts.

Adonis aestivalis L. is an annual forb with showy, mostly orange flowers. Plants typically are 20-50cm and are often unbranched. Petal bases and anthers are purple. Leaves are petiolate, dissected and glabrous. This plant is native to Europe and is currently naturalized across parts of the Pacific Northwest and the Northeast USA.  It is found in disturbed fields and open pine forest and typically flowers May - July. 

History not known. Currently sold as wildflower seed.
