This plant is native to Southeastern Europe: Former Yugoslavia, Albania, Bulgaria (e.), Greece

 Aesculus hippocastanum, horsechestnuts, are trees that grow to a height of 50 to 80 feet with a spread of 20 to 80 feet. They are known for their showy flowers that grow in clusters. Flowers are white, red, or yellow shades. Their leaves are palmately compound with five to seven leaflets. They grow best in well-drained soil in full or part-sun.

Cultivation of this plant began in Europe and North America according to USDA's GRIN-Global.
