Caucasus, Iran, Turkey

Rhizomatous perennial 2 to 4 feet tall and wide. Bell-shaped flowers open pink and mature to shades of blue and purple throughout the spring and summer.

Originally introduced to Russia and Europe as silage. Also historically grown as a medicinal herb. Sometimes used as an ornamental perennial.
