The species is native to the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Spain (including the Canary Islands) and Portugal (including the Madeira Islands).

Verbascum virgatum is a biennial plant species in the family Scrophulariaceae. It grows up to 120 cm tall and has large yellow flowers with red-purple centers on tall wand-like spikes.

Not sold as an ornamental.
